The Perfect Kasauli Weekend: Everything You Need to Know
From the best time to visit to hidden trails and the perfect sundowner spot — our complete guide to a Kasauli weekend that goes beyond the obvious.

Kasauli is one of those rare hill stations that has somehow stayed relatively untouched despite being barely six hours from Delhi. No malls, no neon-lit markets, no deafening traffic. Just pine-scented air, colonial bungalows draped in bougainvillea, and a pace of life that makes you wonder why you ever lived otherwise.
When to Visit
October through March is the sweet spot. The air is crisp, the skies are an almost theatrical shade of blue, and on clear days you can see the Dhauladhar range from our pool terrace. Avoid the peak summer months of May and June — the hill station gets crowded and the roads can be genuinely unpleasant on weekends. Monsoon (July–September) transforms everything green and moody, but landslides on the Dharampur road require patience.
The Drive Up
The NH-44 from Delhi to Chandigarh is one of India's smoothest expressways. Once you cross Chandigarh, take the Dharampur route via Parwanoo — it adds fifteen minutes but the views as you climb are incomparably better. The last stretch through Kasauli Cantonment is narrow but the moment you enter the deodar canopy, you'll know you've arrived somewhere special.

Gilbert Trail is the most satisfying walk — a 4km loop through dense forest that ends at Monkey Point, the highest point in Kasauli, with views stretching across to Chandigarh on clear days. Christ Church on the Mall Road dates to 1844 and is worth visiting at golden hour when the light falls through the stained glass. The Kasauli Brewery is the oldest working brewery in Asia and offers informal tours on weekdays.
Where to Eat
Kasauli has a small but earnest food scene. Roseberg Restaurant near the upper Mall Road does solid Himachali food. The Giani Dhaba near the bus stand makes arguably the best paratha and makki ki roti in the region. For evenings, many guests find the simplest option is the best: let us arrange a private BBQ at the villa, a live acoustic set under the stars, or a candlelight dinner by the pool.
